Two Words Sealed It

This is the main event we deserve.

It only took a few minutes to confirm it — the main event for this year’s All In practically declared itself right on our television screens.

At the end of this week’s Dynamite, Swerve Strickland was backstage preparing to confront Jon Moxley ahead of their AEW World Championship match at Dynasty. But before he could get a word in, Hangman Adam Page came storming in, full of fire and fury, loudly reminding everyone of his vow: Swerve Strickland would never win the AEW World Title. Page screamed with conviction, carrying the weight of a brutal, emotional rivalry that has pushed both men to their limits.

This feud has been nothing short of epic, and both men bring deeply personal history to the table. From Swerve’s infamous break-in at Page’s home to Hangman’s shocking act of revenge — burning down Swerve’s childhood home — the stakes have never been more intense. But what happened Wednesday night was next-level.

As the two men shouted back and forth, Hangman threw the accusation, “You deserved it!” at Swerve — and in a moment that stunned me and viewers, Strickland simply replied, “I know.”

That was it. Two simple words. And they changed everything.

The rage left Hangman. He fell silent, visibly shaken. He asked again, stunned: “What did you say?” Swerve repeated it. “I know.” Page, for once, had no response. That’s the kind of storytelling that only pro wrestling — and AEW at its best — can deliver.

Soon after, the Death Riders ambushed Swerve, leaving him laid out before Dynasty. But despite the beatdown, there’s a growing hope among fans: that Swerve Strickland will walk out of Dynasty as AEW World Champion, and head into All In with gold around his waist.

That brings us to Hangman Page’s next chapter: the men’s Owen Hart Cup. Page is one of the entrants, and early signs point to a likely showdown between him and Will Ospreay. Ospreay is undeniably one of the all-time greats and has all the charisma and in-ring excellence of a true ace. But for Hangman, the time is now.

It’s time for Page to start racking up wins again. Winning the Owen Hart Cup at Double or Nothing could earn him another shot at Swerve — and a chance to finish the story. It’s long overdue. Hangman was once AEW’s main character, and it’s time for him to take that spot back.

Last year, fans were clamoring for Swerve vs. Hangman to headline All In: London — especially after their now-legendary Texas Death Match at Full Gear 2023, a brutal war that left an emotional mark on fans. Instead, Bryan Danielson’s retirement tour and his AEW title match against Swerve took the spotlight — and in hindsight, that decision made sense. But the fire between Swerve and Hangman never went out. If anything, it’s burning hotter than ever.

Now, with Swerve’s surprising moment of remorse — that stunning “I know” — a new wrinkle has been added to their dynamic. The question is no longer just whether Hangman can keep Swerve from reaching the top. Now it’s about whether he can take accountability for his part in this savage, spiraling feud. Can he find redemption? Can he evolve?

The road to All In: Texas is full of emotion, conflict, and unfinished business. But all of this — all the buildup, all the storytelling, all the soul — will be for nothing if Swerve and Hangman don’t win at Dynasty and Double or Nothing respectively.

But if they do?

We’re looking at another chapter in the greatest rivalry the company has ever produced.

And damn it, we sickos deserve it.
